5 million fish released into Yangtze River in Chongqing

Soundbite: Dr. Edmund Andrews, The Nature Conservancy, U.S. "When you change the character of the river and now we have a lake, the water can be very different from what it used to be. It gives a competitive advantage to non-native fish. It’s a very common problem in United States that now we have non-native fish that are coming in and taking over ecosystems that used to have native fish in them. I think it’s very important to draw attention to the native fish of the Yangtze. Sometimes we have these national treasures around us, and we don’t really recognize how important they are. It’s important to have everyone involved in that planning, so I think it was a good thing about today. The really exciting part is so many people were involved in it."
