China, Thailand seek closer ties

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has met with Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in the Great of Hall of the People in Beijing.

Premier Wen says China is willing to work with Thailand to maintain a traditional friendship, deepen strategic cooperation, and safeguard the benefits between the two sides. He says the keys to promoting east-Asia cooperation include extending regional trade and investment, developing financial cooperation, increasing infrastructure construction, and enhancing the ability to tackle the economic and financial crisis.

The Thai Prime Minister says his country is willing to enhance cooperation with China and boost regional peace and prosperity. Abhisit also offered his congratulations for the 60th anniversary of the establishment of New China, adding that he supports the "One China" policy.
