'Climbing monkey' broke world records
Adjust font size:

Zhao Lei, a national climbling coach said:"Zhong is an all-round climber in terms of strength, speed and body co-ordination. Comparatively speaking, he is a bit shorter than his western counterparts. But on the walls, the coherence of his moves has reached a very high level, or the highest level."

Zhong's success has not always come easy. A waist injury back in 2007 almost terminated his climbing career.

Zhao Qixin said:"I sprained my waist muscle. It forced me out of climing for quite a long time. I was very upset at that time. I almost gave up climing, but my family and friends gave me strong support, which helped me keep going on. I'm grateful to them."

Zhong has made a very successful return and has seen his climbing career reach a new peak. But, the Climbing Monkey says he will dedicate himself even further to his sport and will try to achieve even more.

"Climbing makes me feel like I am flying on the walls, The beauty of the sport makes me very happy."
