Private cuisine, the new dining trend

As the compilation of cuisine from all over China, Beijing is becoming known as the Capital of Cuisine. In recent years, private restaurants, with their intimate atmosphere and coordinated menus, are getting increasingly popular. Today, let's take a taste at some of the most prestigious private restaurants in Beijing.

Beijige restaurant

Once you enter the small hutong called "Beijige", you leave the hustling Dongdan Commercial Street behind. Easily identified by its red painted doors, The restaurant takes the hutong's name and provides a serene space, as the house is situated in a cozy courtyard. The century-old courtyard was the residence of a business celebrity, and is kept a good condition. Gray bricks, sculpted windows, and red lanterns the decor brings diners back to a past era of prosperity. The food the restaurant offers was commonly seen on the tables of government banquets during the Qing Dynasty. Shark fin and fried prawn are the top choices. And Kunqu opera performances add a special auditory feast to the dining experience.
