Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Sunday that his country will test some missile products in the near future, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

The defense ministry is about to test some missile products and to prepare a new warship in the near future, Vahidi told reporters on the sidelines of a visit to an exhibition in Tehran on Sunday morning.

Over the past years, Iran has made considerable progress in producing home-made multiple-range missiles.

Iran's Sejil, a two-stage missile with solid fuel, is said to have a range of 2,000 km, while the range of Shahab-3 missile is between 1,300 km and 2,000 km.

The United States and other Western powers are skeptical about Iran's weaponry program, especially those of missiles which could possibly use nuclear materials. But Tehran contends that its military and nuclear program were of defensive and peaceful component.
