A blast occurred on Monday in Nigeria soon after a warning by the country's main militant group.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) operating in the oil rich Niger Delta region said it would be making an important time related announcement about 11 a.m. local time.
Jomo Gbomo, the group spokesman updated this in a statement reaching Lagos.
"The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta will be making an important time related announcement about 11 hours Nigerian time," the statement said.
The group has been known for carrying out attacks on international oil companies in the Niger Delta, engaging in actions including sabotage, theft, property destruction, guerilla warfare and kidnapping.
Gbomo also said MEND had advised the immediate evacuation of the Government House annex in southeast Nigeria's Delta State and its immediate surroundings.
The time given for this evacuation before the detonation of the first bomb was 30 minutes.
"In our usual effort to prevent the loss of innocent life, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta advises the immediate evacuation of the Government House annex Warri and its immediate surroundings up to the Delta state Brodcasting Corporation," the statement said.
"The time given for this evacuation before the detonation of the first bomb is thirty (30) minutes which will elapse by 11:30 Nigerian time. The primary school bordering the government house annex should be evacuated immediately," it added.
"The first bomb will be detonated at exactly 11:30. We will thereafter advise on the other devices planted within and around the venue of the vanguard newspaper organized and Delta state sponsored conference. Organizers and participants at this jamboree will ignore this warning at their peril," the group said.
"People must not remain in their cars and attempt to drive their cars and maintain safe distance from all cars and the area," the statement said.
