Six world powers, including the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Germany and China, would convene in New York this week to discuss the Iran nuclear issue, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu Thursday.

The countries would discuss ways to solve the Iran nuclear issue through a diplomatic manner, and discuss suggestions offered by concerned parties, Jiang told a regular press conference.

China always maintained that dialogue and negotiation were the best way to solve the Iran nuclear issue, Jiang said, hoping that all concerned parties would make utmost efforts to achieve the goal.
