China welcomes Indian President Pratibha Patil's visit to China, said China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jiang Yu in Beijing Tuesday.

Chinese President Hu Jintao, Chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao, and Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, will hold talks or meet with her respectively, Jiang said.

President Patil and China's Vice President Xi Jinping will attend celebrations for the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in Beijing, she added.

"Having maintained close contact and communication, we're happy with the development of our relationship, which has entered into a period of stability and steady progress," said Jiang.

Before the border issue being completely resolved, the two sides "are committed to ensuring stability in the border areas," she said.
