Kim Jong-un, son of the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-il, said that his country needs food rather than bullets.

"Food is more important than bullets," said Kim Jong-un. "In the past, it was all right to have bullets and no food, but now we must have food even though we don't have bullets,"

According to the Yomiuri Shimbun Kim Jong-un made the remarks during a visit to Kimchaek city in North Hamgyong Province in late September just after the Workers' Party congress.

He was promoted to vice-chairmen of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) last month.
