France has decided to send three military planes to evacuate expatriates and nationals in Libya for safety cautions, Foreign Minister Michele Alliot-Mariehas said in a statement on Tuesday.

The minister said the military planes abound for Tripoli will repatriate the French, whose presence in Libya "is not necessary."

Noting recent violence occurring in Libya, Alliot-Mariehas said the government has decided to dispatch "three military aircraft of the Air Force from Paris to Tripoli," and accordingly instructed the French embassy in Libya to "inform all our compatriots on site" and provide assistance "in the airport."

The French Foreign Ministry estimated that there are currently between 500 and 550 French nationals in Libya.

Earlier on Tuesday, Egypt has also sent two military planes to Libya for the same reason, and the foreign jets' landing have been approved by Libyan authorities, according to previous reports.
