VP: Talks between Chinese, Philippine FMs productive

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said Friday that talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and his visiting Philippine counterpart Albert del Rosario was "productive".

Xi made the remarks in a meeting with Rosario at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing on Friday afternoon. He told Rosario that China highly values its friendly and cooperative relations with the Philippines.

"China is committed to remain a good neighbor, a good friend and a good partner with the Philippines," the vice president said.

According the sources with the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the talks between Yang and Rosario for more than three hours touched upon a wide range of topics, including trade, investment, culture, tourism, defense cooperation, coordination in combating transnational crimes as well as the recent tensions in the South China Sea.
