The death toll from Typhoon Nesat has climbed to 50 in the Philippines, and the number may still increase as another strong storm will likely hit the country Saturday.

Benito Ramos, executive director of Philippines' National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, said more than 30 people were still missing and 61 others injured due to Nesat, which brought strong winds and massive rains that flooded many areas in affected regions since it made its landfall in the northern Philippines on Tuesday.

"More than 1.3 million people were affected in low lying areas, " he said.

At the same time, the country's weather bureau reported that at 4 a.m. Saturday, the eye of Typhoon Nalgae was 160 km East of Casiguran, Aurora province, with maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph. It is forecast to move west southwest at 26 kph.
