China on Monday expressed hope that Bahrain would settle its domestic differences through peaceful means, as the Gulf state has issued an investigation report on the social unrest that erupted there in February.

"China has noticed the report and welcomes the King's comment on that," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said at a regular briefing.

He said China hopes that the people of Bahrain will keep trying to settle their differences in a peaceful way, and jointly safeguard stability of the country.

The Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry issued last Wednesday a report on the February-to-March unrest which led to dozens of deaths.

The 501-page report has recommended the government take actions against those who were responsible for the unrest, and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has said he is committed to carrying out the recommendations.
