The 18th African Union (AU) summit ended on Tuesday in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, with a plan announced that the next summit will be held in Malawi.

A series of decisions concerning Africa's economic, political and security have been made during the summit, said AU's new chairperson, Benin's President Thomas Yayi Boni at a press conference after the closing ceremony.

After three rounds of fierce competition between incumbent Chairperson of AU Commission Jean Ping, and his only rival, Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma, Interior Minister of South Africa, AUC decided to postpone the election to the next summit in June.

Jean Ping and other AU Commission members will maintain their positions until next summit, said Thomas Yayi Boni.
