Malawian President Bingu Mutharika has died after suffering a heart attack, according to reports that could not be immediately confirmed.

The president was rushed to hospital late Thursday morning and underwent two resuscitation processes, and the State House said Thursday evening that he would be flown to South Africa for further medical attention.
