A shooting at one of Toronto's largest malls killed one person, injured seven Saturday and sent thousands of weekend shoppers running in fear.

According to local press, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot at Toronto Eaton Center's food court. Among the injured, a 13-year-old boy is in critical condition and a pregnant woman was sent into labor during the chaos.

Police immediately evacuated and closed down the mall for several hours after the shooting. No arrests have been made.

Local press quoted many of the witnesses as saying they heard a string of shots fired. One witness said he heard 12 to 15 shots and fled.

Investigations are now underway. Police are combing through video surveillance and interviewing witnesses.

This is the second shooting in the same area in the last decade. In 2005, a 15-year-old girl was fatally shot, and six were injured in a shooting that broke out in the same area.
