A group of Bahraini Shiites, mourning the death of a youth killed by bird shot, clashed Tuesday with the police in Muharraq, north of the capital Manama, resulting in the arrest of eight of them.
The mourners were protesting alleged abuses involved in the death of 16-year-old Hussam Al Hadad, who was killed last Friday during clashes with police in an unauthorized demonstration in Muharraq.
An official from the Muharraq Governorate Police said Tuesday that "a group of rioters bombarded the police with Molotov cocktails and stones from the roof of a religious center, and another group tried to block several roads."
"Eight people have been arrested and will be referred to the Public Prosecution," the official added.
Media reports said the Island kingdom's Sunni monarchy have promised that an investigation will be launched into Hadad's death.
