Three Russian warships operating in the Mediterranean sea docked at Beirut port Thursday, a security source told Xinhua.
The security official who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the warships docked in a routine maintenance operation, while its crew were seen shopping at the Duty Free Zone at the port.
The source did not reveal the time of stay of the warships and stressed that being part of a military fleet, it is not known where the warships' next destination would be.
Al Mayadeen TV earlier reported that the warships had docked at Beirut port on their way to the Syrian military base of Tartous.
