Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Republic of Korea (ROK) counterpart Yun Byung-se on Wednesday, saying China's stance on the Korean Peninsula is fair and responsible.

Wang said, "The priority is that all parties keep restrained and calm, take active measures, ease tensions and bring the issue back to the negotiating table."

Foreign Minister Yun expressed condolences to the families of casualties in Saturday's devastating earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan Province, saying ROK would like to offer assistance.

Stressing China and ROK are important countries in the region, Wang said the China-ROK collaboration would work for stability in the Peninsula and region and contribute to world peace and development.

China would like to increase high-level exchanges with ROK, deepen pragmatic cooperation and upgrade the bilateral strategic partnership, Wang said.
