Yao An, deputy curator of Capital Museum intends to make the museum 'My museum' of the Beijing and all Chinese citizens. [Maverick Chen / China.org.cn]

The exhibit, which opened yesterday, is part of Capital Museum's efforts to add more innovation and reform to its traditional historical and archaeological focus.

"Jewellery design is an art in life and is liked by many," said Yao An, the museum's chief curator. "Capital Museum takes it as a responsibility to make the public on a broader scale to become aware of this sublime art and be influenced by the ideas that run through the design."

Chan donated one of his works, Epiphany of Dragon Cicada, which features a giant cicada made of rubellite, to the museum.
