"The newly discovered murals show a possible relationship between Tibetan and Han Buddhist arts during the Gusiluo Age or the earlier stage of the West Xia Dynasty, and provide image evidence for relevant Tibet and Han documents," Xie said. But he added that more studies and discussions are still needed concerning the contents of the murals, such as those monks dressed in Tubo costumes, unique hats and geometric patterns, since some might be integrated with elements of post-modern art.
