An exhibition entitled "Chinese Spring Festival" opened here on Tuesday evening in the Art gallery of the Bulgarian National Palace of Culture (NPC).

The one-week event features pictures, artifacts and other exhibits related to the celebration of Chinese New Year such as a Kitchen God, Kites from Weifang and Spring Festival delicacies.

The Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria Guo Yezhou told the opening ceremony he believed that through this exhibition the audience would better understand the cultural messages of the Chinese spring festival, would touch the traditional Chinese virtues and would see an open, harmonious and progressive China.

Christo Drumev, NPC's Director General said the Chinese are the only nation that celebrates the beginning of the year just when it should be -- in early spring.

This exhibition was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria in collaboration with the NPC.
