Cloth dyeing is one of traditional crafts of the Dai People. The material selected for colth dyeing is called "haomin" in Dai dialect,i.e. woad in English. The Process flow is described as follows: soaking woad leaves in a water tank for a long time and then boiling the leaves to a mush, which is mixed with pulverized lme later; pounding the mixture to a paste with a wooden mallet after it cools off and  pouring the paste into water for preparation of dye; soaking a white cloth into the dyeing liquid and then taking the dyed cloth out for hanging dry. Different shades of color are dependent on soaking times.
