Iggy Azalea leads American Music Award nominations

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has scored the most American Music Award nominations with six nods.

According to the latest announcement, Azalea's nominations include coveted artist of the year, favorite single, and hip hop album.

Singers John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams were not far behind with five nominations, followed by New Zealand's Lorde with four.

English pop star Charlie XCX and singer Jason Derulo announced the nominations in five categories, on the ABC early news show "Good Morning America."

Nominees and winners are chosen by the public online and via Twitter.

The American Music Awards will air on ABC on November the 23rd.
