The tragicomedy "Go Away Mr. Tumor," adapted from the true story of a young cartoonist who fought cancer, premiered in Beijing as two Chinese film giants promised to push it to a new peak.

The film, directed by Han Yan and starring Fay Bai and Daniel Wu, is a co-production between Wanda Pictures and Edko Films Ltd (Beijing).

Director Han Yan said Bill Kong, a low-key movie mogul in China, has been his producer and mentor since the very beginning of his career. Kong was the major force behind Ang Lee's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," as well as Zhang Yimou's "Hero," and most recent "Monster Hunt," which has become the highest grossing Chinese film ever with nearly 2 billion yuan tickets in sales at the box office.

"Han was the ideal director and Fay Bai was the most suitable actress for this film, and they did a good job," Kong said at the press conference.

Ye Ning, vice president of the Wanda Cultural Industry Group, was also excited about the film. He said that after watching the film, he believed "Go Away Mr. Tumor" would set new records in China's film history. Wanda also produced another blockbuster this summer "Jian Bing Man," which grossed more than 1 billion yuan in China.

The two giants have reigned during the hottest summer film season ever in China. Their collaboration inevitably led to new ideas. Meanwhile, Fay Bai has starred in three films this summer, including the top grossing "Monster Hunt." "Go Away Mr. Tumor" may make her the undisputed blockbuster queen of the year if the rave reviews help the film soar.
