The stars of popular sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" top the new list of the highest-paid actors on television.

According to Forbes, Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper in the sitcom, tops the list, earning over 29 million US dollars in a one year period ending in June.

Co-star Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter, follows Jim with $27 million US dollars.

NCIS's action hero Mark Harmon finished in a four-way tie for third with earnings of 20 million US dollars.

Harmon is tied with two more "Big Bang Theory" stars - Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar - and former "Two and a Half Men" actor Ashton Kutcher.

Of the top 15 actors ranked on Forbes's list, ten come from the world of sitcoms.

The Big Bang Theory stars dominate the list after restructuring contracts before the 2014-2015 season.

CBS ultimately agreed to pay Parsons, Galecki and their co-star Kaley Cuoco a reported US$1 million per episode, and their co-stars also received significant raises.
