'Maze Runner 2' premieres in Beijing

The Beijing premiere of the 20th Century Fox film "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" took place on Wednesday, with two of its stars, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Ki Hong Lee, on hand to promote the dystopian science fiction action thriller.

The film, directed by Wes Ball and also starring Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario and Patricia Clarkson, picks up the story immediately after the previous installment, with Thomas (O'Brien) and his fellow Gladers battling the powerful organization W.C.K.D, while facing the perils of the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with dangerous obstacles.
It was the first time for both actors to visit China. They toured the Forbidden City before the press conference. Later they appeared at a fan greet-and-meet event to face hundreds of screaming fans who had known Thomas Brodie-Sangster for years since his first major film "Love Actually" back in 2003, and Lee from his role in first installment of "The Maze Runner" in 2014.
They told reporters they did a lot of running in "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials", and the film was as thrilling as the first.
"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is based on James Dashner's novel "The Scorch Trials," the second novel in The Maze Runner series. The film will debut in China on Nov. 4.
Sunnie Shen, director of China marketing for 20th Century Fox, believes moviegoers will embrace the so-called "Fox Film season" in November as three movies from the studio will hit Chinese theaters then. The other two are the animation film "The Peanuts Movie" based on the famous comic strip that opens on Nov. 6 and the Matt Damon movie "The Martian" on Nov. 25.
