The actor's Oscar nominated film "The Revenant" topped the North American weekend box office, grossing 16 million US dollars.

It's the first time at No. 1, three weeks after general release.

"The Revenant" also topped the overseas box office chart for the first time, earning 34 million US dollars from 48 markets over the weekend.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" came in at two with 14 million US dollars, earning a total of some 880 million US dollars in North America.

The epic's global revenue has hit 1.94 billion US dollars.

Last week's number one "Ride Along 2" is down to three with 13 million US dollars.

Here in China,

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has once again grabbed the top spot in box office chart, taking 52 million yuan or 8 million US dollars over the weekend.

Its total gross so far in China has reached 750 million yuan or 113 million US dollars, just one month after it was released.

China overtook Germany as the second largest non-North America market for the movie, behind the UK.

Last weekend's winner "Bonnie Bear III" was second with 45 million yuan or 7 million US dollars in takings.

"The Walk" from Director Robert Zemeckis, just released on Friday, took third place, pulling in 43 million yuan or 6.7 million US dollars.
