 "Forever Young"

The mysterious epic "Forever Young" will likely hit Chinese screens at the end of 2017. It has released a trailer in June 2017 after five years since it first announced that the beginning of filming. The film, written and directed by acclaimed writer-turned-director Li Fangfang, has a star-studded cast including Zhang Ziyi, Huang Xiaoming, Leehom Wang, Chang Chen and Chen Chusheng. With a budget of more than 100 million yuan, the film was originally supposed to be made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tsinghua University in 2011, and is the story of four generations spanning a hundred years of modern Chinese history since World War II. Zhang Ziyi and Huang Xiaoming both mentioned in previous interviews that they became so emotional and cried when reading the script. The film finished shooting at the end of 2012 and has not been heard of ever since. There were rumors as to why the film was never released, but director Li responded in June 2014 that she is very strict on post-production and the film would be ready for release at end of that year. However, it never happened.

It is also worth noting that the film was shot in film stock and could be the last film in China made this way as most film processing studios have shut down as Chinese filmmakers turned to digital filmmaking.
