Former airport boss sentenced 12 years for bribery

A court in north China's Hebei Province on Wednesday sentenced the former boss of a Beijing airport to 12 years behind bars for taking bribery.

Zhang Zhizhong was proven guilty of taking 4.73 million yuan (746,000 U.S. dollars) in bribery while serving as a department chief of Civil Aviation Administration of China and as the general manager of Capital Airport Co., Ltd., said the verdict issued by the Intermediate People's Court of Hengshui City.

Zhang was found to have offered job positions in the airport and favorable terms for business partners in exchange for money and gifts from the business people and officials, said the verdict.

The court also made a ruling to confiscate 200,000 yuan of his personal property in addition to his returning all the illegal money he had taken.
