An ecological area

The district’s flora covers roughly 16 million sq m, roughly half of the entire district, said Wu Fumin, director of Administrative Committee of Zhengdong New District, at a press conference held on Oct. 20. He also mentioned that Zhengdong New District paid more attention to environmental protection in district planning.

China.org.cn was told that the ongoing Dragon Lake project, the largest constructed lake in Asia, will be completed by 2013. It will make a positive contribution to the environment of Zhengdong New District, such as improving climate conditions and preventing floods.
