Ninety years after its formation, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has grown from an over 50-member revolutionary Party to an 80-million-strong political party ruling over the world's most populous country.

An emblem of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is seen surrounded by flowers on the Tiananmen Square in Beijing, capital of China, June 28, 2011.

The CPC has strived forward over the past 90 years, and it will always do so in the future.

"The Chinese nation faces its greatest peril," which is a line in the national anthem, showed the historic situation under which the CPC began to strive forward. None of the Westernization Movement initiated in the latter part of the 19th century, the Reform Movement of 1898 and the Revolution of 1911 had succeeded to end China's peril.

However, the CPC accomplished three major tasks in 90 years, which are national independence and the liberation of the people, the establishment of the basic system of socialism, and blazing the trail of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The CPC turned an impoverished and backward China into the world's second largest economy.

The CPC has shown its faith and strength when striving forward in the 90 years.

History has proved that only the CPC can save China. With lofty goals, confidence in victory and fearing neither bloodshed nor sacrifice, the CPC is the vanguard of the working class and the Chinese nation. The Chinese people followed the CPC in the cause of liberation and socialism, which is their choice and the only road for China's development.

The current situation has proved that socialism with Chinese characteristics, founded by the Chinese people under the CPC's leadership, is a path which is suited to China's conditions and complies with the world trend. The CPC, practical and realistic, is willing to emancipate the mind and keep pace with the times, which makes it able to go through difficult situations and overcome challenges.

The future will prove that the CPC will retain its vitality, and will lead the people in creating better lives. The CPC gains all its strength from the people, and it takes the people's most fundamental interests as the starting point and the object of its work. Such a party will have a bright future with the support of the people.

China is facing major opportunities and severe challenges at the same time. The challenges include a long-term rule of China, deepened reform and opening up, improvement of market economy and profound changes in domestic and international conditions.

The CPC will have to stay alert, get prepared for unexpected development, adapt to changes, conciliate conflicts and seize opportunities. The country's future, the nation's fate and people's well-being depend on it. So, the CPC must strive forward and never relax.

"Idle boast the strong pass is a wall of iron, with firm strides we are crossing its summit," late Chinese leader Mao Zedong said in a poem, Loushan Pass -- to the tune of Yi Qin E.

The CPC should strive forward by pooling the strength of the people.

All CPC members and people from various ethnic groups should rally closely round the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as General Secretary, and pool strength of the most extensive social forces to achieve the great cause of rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

United as one, the nation will not be intimidated by any danger or puzzled by any disruption, and will surely weather through various difficulties since the unity of will is an impregnable stronghold.

The CPC should strive forward by fortifying its conviction on scientific development.

The CPC should promote unswervingly the country's scientific development by adjusting its concept, innovating patterns and improving the quality of development so as to promote sound and rapid economic and social development and push forward the great cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.

The CPC should strive forward by bearing in heart the belief that it exercises governance for the people.

Exercising governance for the people is an inevitable requirement for CPC as the party is built for the public interests.

The CPC should adhere to the mass line and the basic concept of "everything for the masses and all depend on the masses," so as to maintain close ties with the people and always be a public servant for the society.

The CPC should strive forward by maintaining its courage to reform and innovate.

To ensure the CPC is always at the forefront of the times and with great vitality, it must continue to emancipate the mind, seek truth from facts, be brave to forge ahead, and enhance its knowledge on the rules of CPC governance, building of socialism as well as the social development of the human beings.

Further, the CPC should strive forward by cooperating with other countries for common prosperity.

Seeking peace, development and cooperation has been the irreversible tide in the world today. China cannot develop without interacting with the rest of the world, and the world's development also needs China.

Cooperation with other countries will offer more opportunities for the development of both China and other countries in the world.

"If we have chosen the position in life in which we can most of all work for mankind, no burdens can bow us down...our happiness will belong to millions, our deeds will live on quietly but perpetually at work..." Karl Marx once said.

With 90 years' arduous efforts, the CPC has dramatically changed the outlook of old China and rewritten the fate of the Chinese nation.

With the CPC's 90th founding anniversary as a new starting point, the future of the Chinese nation will only be more glorious.
