Pre-school education: 5 billion yuan and 769 kindergartens

Beijing is making all-out efforts to create an ideal environment for the growth of children. Starting from 2011, the city began to implement a plan to relieve the difficulties faced by working parents in finding a proper pre-school place for their kids, with about 5 billion yuan allocated for the construction of more kindergartens. Within three years, 769 kindergartens will be constructed or renovated to increase the number of kindergartens in Beijing from 1,305 in 2011 to about 1,530 in 2014, of which over 65 percent are public. 75,000 enrollments will become available by 2014. In 2013, another 23,000 kindergarten vacancies will be provided.
