Taiwan Urged to End Falun Gong’s Illegal TV Activities
A Chinese official expressed hope Saturday that relevant departments of Taiwan will take effective measures to put an end to the transmitting of illegal TV signals by the Falun Gong cult, which attacked China's Sino Satellite (SINOSAT).

In response to questions, the official from the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said that the crime committed by Falun Gong followers violated public moral norms and basic civil communications regulations.

The crime has seriously infringed on the rights and interests of the people on the Chinese mainland and has greatly hurt the feelings of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, he said.

Telecommunication engineers have traced the source of the illegal signals to the Taipei City area, said the official, adding that the exact location of the source was made public on Thursday.

The relevant departments of Taiwan have expressed willingness to maintain the normal order of radio waves and to make efforts to ban any illegal use, said the official.

However, the official said that the source of the illegal signals has not been done away with thus far.

The raising of any issue apart from the illegal TV signals by the Taiwan's relevant departments are unwise, said the official.

Experts confirmed that the 2A, 3A, and 6A transmitters of the SINOSAT were disturbed by illegal signals sent out by the Falun Gong cult. These signals cut into transmissions using the SINOSAT system, which covers the entire territory of China.
