Students, Court Employees Sickened by Food Poisoning

Thirty-four students of a medical and health school in the city of Yichang, central China’s Hubei Province, were hospitalized for food poisoning on Saturday evening.

The students were declared out of danger as of Sunday.

Sources said that the students, all boarders, began to show symptoms of food poisoning shortly after having meals at the school dining hall.

The investigation into the cause of the poisoning is still under way.

Also over the weekend, 35 employees of the Harbin City Intermediate People’s Court fell ill after eating underdone kidney beans on Saturday.

The patients were sent to a local hospital in the Heilongjiang provincial capital on Saturday evening, suffering from nausea and vomiting. Preliminary diagnosis indicated that they were poisoned by underdone kidney beans, according to sources with the hospital.

The patients had all recovered by Sunday.
