NPC Adopts Draft Amendment to Law on Women's Rights Protection

The draft amendment to the law on women's rights protection was adopted by the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC) on Sunday.
   
Prohibition of sexual harassment was for the first time included in China's law.
   
And gender equality was designated as one of the country's basic national policies, according to the amended law. 
    
The NPC Standing Committee will hold a legislative hearing on a draft amendment to the law on personal income tax in September.
   
This is the first legislative hearing to be held by the NPC Standing Committee.

Also on Sunday The NPC Standing Committee of adopted the draft law on penalties for offenses against public order after the third reading.
   
According to the law, the penalty of detention does not apply to an offender under age 18 for the first offense against public order.

The six-day 17th meeting of the 10th NPC Standing Committee concluded on Sunday.
