Three Gorges Dam Opens to Public

The Three Gorges Dam in Yichang, central China's Hubei Province, is open to tourists from today until the end of September.

Visitors can tour the dam in a battery-operated car for sixty-eight yuan (US$8.21) per person. No more than 1,000 visitors would be allowed per day.

Visitors have to pass through strict safety checks and obey the safety rules under the watchful eyes of a security group organized by the Three Gorges Tourism Development Co. Ltd.

Opening hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day.

The dam will be closed starting October 1 for electricity equipment maintenance and repair.
