Customs Seize 74 Drug Trafficking Cases

China's customs across the country have seized 74 drug-trafficking cases in the first half of this year, seizing 100 suspects and captured 291 kilograms of drugs of various kinds, according to latest statistics from the General Administration of Customs.

Since Jan. 17, the Shenzhen Customs Office launched a special campaign on the drug-related crimes. After half year of investigation, the police uncovered two drug processing and selling centers and destroyed an extra-large ring dealing with drug-trafficking in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. During the campaign, the police also seized 9.3 kilograms of drugs and 300,000 HK dollar of capital used for drug trafficking.

The custom departments in the southwest China's areas also strengthened crackdown on drug-trafficking from the "golden triangle" areas. On May 23, the Kunming Customs staffs in Yunnan Province captured 40.05 kilograms of "ice" or methamphetamine, the largest case this year uncovered by the custom department. On June 5, it seized 117.76 kilograms of opium and on May 10, it captured 3,326 grams of "ice".
