Shanghai GM Produces, Sells over 100,000 Buicks
Shanghai General Motors Corp., a Sino-US joint venture, produced over 100,000 Buicks and sold nearly 110,000 from January to November this year, becoming the third largest car manufacturer in China.

Shanghai GM general manager Chen Hong said Monday that since the company's first Buick debuted in June, 1999, the companyhas manufactured over 220,000 autos, and its production so far this year is a 104 percent increase over the same period last year.

Phil Murtaugh, chairman and CEO of GM China said that Shanghai GM may not be the first auto enterprise to achieve an annual production and sales of over 100,000 autos, but it is the first toreach that goal within only four years.

Chen Hong also disclosed that Shanghai GM will put a new model on the market on Dec. 26 this year.
