World's Tallest Baby Born in Hegang
Adjust font size:

At 16:00 on August 2, the world’s tallest baby was born at the Women and Children’s Hospital of Hegang Mining Group, Hegang, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province. The baby boy was measured at birth to be 0.75 meters, exceeding the previous “super baby” by 0.09 meters. He weighs 7.05 kilograms, 0.08 kilograms less than the world’s heaviest, ranking second in the world.

The baby's mother, 28-years-old, is 1.70 meters tall and weighs more than 100 kilograms; his father, a miner, is 1.78 meters and 60 kilograms. According to doctors, the child was born healthy with all indicators showing normal development. The baby's mother says, in her monthly prenatal tests, everything was fine with the baby. He was born one week later than expected by caesarian section, and even doctors were surprised at his huge size.

Three days after his birth, the baby’s grandmother went to visit him from Jilin Province, and was shocked that all the clothes previously prepared for him were too small. With the boy ranking first in height and second in weight among newborn babies around the world, the family feels very proud of him.

The largest baby was delivered in Poland in January 2007, weighing 7.13 kg and measuring 0.66 meters tall.
