Macao recorded 387,518 package tourist arrivals in August, seeing a remarkable year-on-year rise of 65.6 percent, according to official statistics issued here on Sunday.

The figures from the government-run Statistics and Census Service (SCS) showed that over 70 percent of the package visitors came in the month from the Chinese mainland.

The SCS statistics also showed that the number of Macao's hotel rooms reached 15,778 at the end of August, up 33.8 percent on the same month of 2006.
