Macao sets up transport infrastructure office
Adjust font size:

The government of the Macao Special Administrative Region has established a Office for Transport Infrastructure for the coordination of the city's transportation network, according to an official statement issued Tuesday.

The statement released by the Information Bureau said that the Office will operate under the supervision of the Secretary for Transport and Public Works for five years.

The main task of the Office will be the coordination work of the Cacao Light Rail System plan, which is expected to start the public bidding in 2008 and to complete construction in 2011.

The first phase of the light rail construction plan features a 20-km route linking the Macao Peninsula and the two islands of Taipa and Coloane.
