Expressway pileups kill 9 in Jiangxi
Adjust font size:

A series of expressway pileups in east China's Jiangxi Province killed nine people and injured several others Friday morning, local traffic police said.

The police said a sudden, heavy fog at about 7 AM triggered the six separate pileups in Jinxian township of Jiangxi, a section of the expressway linking Shanghai to Kunming of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

At least 18 people were injured in the accidents and are in stable condition. It is not immediately known how many vehicles were involved in the pileups, according to the police.
