Beijing to build more fire stations
Adjust font size:

Beijing will complete construction of 34 fire stations before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games to safeguard safety of the stadiums, the Beijing News reported on Sunday.

Upon completion of all the stations, the firemen can arrive at any of the stadiums in two minutes after an emergency call, the paper said.

Before the opening ceremony of the games, the total numbers of the Beijing's fire stations will exceed 100, the paper said.

A few days ago, the fire station, "528" close to National Stadium, the "Bird's Nest", was completed and will be put into operation in March.

The station will act as regulating center during the Olympics and will take charge of the main stadiums including the "Bird's Nest" and National Natatorium "Water Cubic".
