New gear to fight slippery snow

Postmen in Wuhan in central China's Hubei province have been equipped with new gears to fight the slippery snow plaguing the city this winter---straw sandals.

The local Chutian Metropolis Daily reported on Wednesday that the straw sandals, wrapping over the normal shoes, have helped the mailmen safely delivered mails and newspapers to many rural villages.

Wuhan have experienced successive snowfalls for one week and to protect the city's postmen from accident while performing duty, Wuhan post office have send out 900 pairs of straw sandals to its workers, the report said.
