The 20th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the national political advisory body, passed a resolution that the First Plenary Session of the Eleventh CPPCC National Committee will be inaugurated on March 3.

At the session, the participants will hear and discuss a report on the work of the CPPCC National Committee and a report on the work of proposals, and elect the chairperson, vice chairpersons, secretary general and members of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee.

The participants will also observe the First Plenary Session of the Eleventh National People's Congress (NPC), the legislature, to hear and discuss a report on the work of the government and some other reports.

The meeting was chaired and addressed by Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau.

In his speech, Jia recalled the work of the CPPCC National Committee in the past five years and thanked the members of the Tenth CPPCC National Committee for their contribution to the nation and the society.

The forthcoming plenary session is "a major event in the political life of our nation," said the CPPCC leader. He urged all those involved in the preparation of the session to work hard so as to ensure its success.

In a related development, a lecture was held for the executive members of the CPPCC National Committee on Friday, at which, Luan Enjie, director-in-chief of the China Moon-orbiting Program delivered a report on the program.

Jia, who also presided over the lecture, expressed his respect for and appreciation on all those who have participated in the country's moon-orbiting program. He called it a strategic decision-making by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
