China's First Charity School Established in Jiangxi
China's first charity school is set to open Monday in Nanchang, capital of the country's Jiangxi Province.

Jiangxi Foreign Commercial Institute, jointly established by Hong Kong and Jiangxi Province's charitable societies, will give priority to charity education, offering volunteer courses in Braille and sign language from Sept. 1 this year.

The school will also accept paying students in order to raise more charity funds. Fifteen percent of the school's annual revenue will be given to the two charitable societies after five years of operation.

Thirty percent of all the students will enjoy a free education, and some 100 to 200 disadvantaged students will be financially aided by the school.

The school, approved to offer subjects such as human resource management, securities and investment analysis, urban construction and real estate, plans to enroll 500 students this year.

"The establishment of the school not only helps the poorest students go to university, but also enlarges China's charitable education depending on limited charitable donations," said Zheng Suwei, chairman of the Hong Kong Charitable Society.
