HK Customs Detains African Man Carrying Heroin

Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department has detained an African man carrying 1.15 million HK dollars (US$148,200) market worth of heroin and marijuana from Thailand.

A customs spokeswoman said Monday that the customs authorities had been monitoring the 30-year-old African man who just came from Thailand and arrested him at a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui Saturday night.

Customs officials found 1.1 kilograms of heroin and seven kilograms of marijuana in his two suitcases, the spokeswoman said, adding that the man is under further questioning.
