China, Indonesia to Cement Ties: Ministers

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan agreed with his Indonesian counterpart Hasan Wirayuda Wednesday that the two countries will further cement their ties by expanding cooperation in international and regional affairs.

In a meeting with Hasan, Tang said it is the established policy of the Chinese government to develop long-term and stable cooperative relations with Indonesia on the basis of good- neighborly ties and mutual trust.

China is willing to make concerted efforts with Indonesia to implement their joint statement on bilateral cooperation, he said.

Tang said China firmly supports Indonesia's sustained efforts to maintain national unity and restore economic development, adding that China will enhance cooperation with Indonesia in international and regional affairs.

The Indonesian side is happy with the progress in its relations with China, and hopes to further expand bilateral friendly cooperation, said Hasan.

Hasan, who is here to attend ministerial meetings of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, spoke highly of China's efforts in hosting the meetings, which he said will be successful.

The two sides also exchanged views on topics of the APEC meetings and international efforts in combating terrorism.
