Li Peng Meets Bangladeshi Guests

China's top legislator Li Peng said Sunday that the relations between China and Bangladesh are developing well in all fields.

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, made the remark in a meeting with Jamiruddin Sircar, speaker of the National Assembly of Bangladesh, who is in Beijng to attend the third annual conference of the Association of Asian Parliaments for Peace (AAPP) to be held from April 16 to 19 in Beijing and the southwestern city of Chongqing.

Li expressed appreciation for Bangladesh's contributions to thefoundation and development of the AAPP, and voiced hopes for further cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries in the AAPP framework.

He said that China and Bangladesh have cooperated fruitfully inthe political and economic fields, and in dealing with international affairs. Frequent exchanges by the leaders of the two countries have also furthered bilateral ties, Li said.

He said that all nations have become more aware of the importance of readjustment and reform based on their actual conditions and increased cooperation to cope with the challenges of the globalization.

Mutual political trust and mutual economic benefits have kept developing among various countries and consultation has also increased in dealing with regional and international affairs, Li said.

China is ready to continue to enhance cooperation with Bangladesh in various fields, Li said.

Sircar said Bangladesh is China's sincere friend and he and hisparty feel honored to attend the AAPP conference, and would cooperate with China to achieve its success.

They are here not only representing members of the National Assembly, but also the whole Bangladeshi people, he said.

He said he believed that the friendship between the two parliaments and two peoples and the relations of the two countrieswould be further promoted through the visit.
